Reasons why Mudavadi’s ANC wants to quit NASA

Amani National Congress Party (ANC) has threatened to ditch the National Super Alliance (NASA), accusing their coalition partner, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of sidelining them when filing parliamentary positions.

Ayub Savula, ANC Deputy Party leader on Wednesday stated that the party was reconsidering its position in the Raila-led coalition, saying ODM was shortchanging them along with the Wiper Democratic Movement.

“We regret the list and we are forced to ask Musalia mudavadi out of NASA we focus on 2022,” said Savula.

According to The Standard, Coast opposition MP’s walked out of parliamentary proceedings after the controversial list containing names of NASA leaders was submitted to the National Assembly and the Senate.

Disgruntled Members of Parliament affiliated to NASA vowed not to take any instruction from the coalition until the names were withdrawn.

According to critics, the list not being balanced in terms of gender and regional representation will prolong the stalemate that has made the Opposition flop in naming its house leaders.

Here is a list of those picked:

Moses Wetangu’la - Senate Minority Leader – (FORD Kenya)

James Orengo - Senate Deputy Minority Leader – (ODM)

John Mbadi – National Assembly Minority Leader – (ODM)

Robert Mbui - National Assembly Deputy Minority Leader – (Wiper)

Mutula Kilonzo Jnr – Senate Minority Whip - (Wiper)

Petronilla Were – Senate Deputy Minority Whip (ANC)
