FIFA Rankings: Kenya down one spot

Kenya Men’s National football team Harambee Stars is currently 88th down from 87 in February. This is according to the latest FIFA ranking released yesterday.

Slight changes have been noted owing to the fact that last month witnessed very little football action worldwide.

It is worthwhile mentioning that Stars lost 2-1 to an English side- Hull City on February 27. It was the first ever match for our national team to play in Europe, albeit, the fixture was not under FIFA calendar.

The best position Kenya has ever claimed was back in July 2008, at position 68 under coach Francis Kimanzi.

Stanley Okumbi’s boys’ mettle, who are currently enjoying eight matches unbeaten streak, will be tested when they face Uganda and DR Congo in the upcoming friendlies later this month.

In Africa, Egypt holds the top spot at position 20, up three slots. Senegal is 28 from 31, Cameroon 32 climbing one spot. Burkina Faso and Congo DR close in for the top five countries on the continent. Closer home, Uganda is up to 74 from 75 held last month. Rwanda has done exceptionally well climbing seven spots to land on 93rd position out of 205 ranked nations. Tanzania is 157th, Ethiopia 104th while Burundi is 139.

Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Chile and Belgium top the world in that order.
