LAMU COUNTY SET TO HOST THE LARGEST EVER STUDENTS WORD AND PRAYER RALLY

Between 10th and 12th March, Christian students in several schools in Lamu County will converge at Mpeketoni Boys High School for a major word and prayer rally.

 The rally is set to be attended by at least one thousand students from all the twenty-four secondary schools in the county.

The central theme of the rally is derived from Romans 8:1 which says "there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Concerning the topic, Evangelist Dan Mott who is also the host says, “We aim at getting students rooted in the knowledge of Christ through the Holy Bible. With the current trend in the world, youths have limited time in Word and Prayer, and so our focus is just that. Our drive is a revival in all schools and word and prayer are essential recipes.”

The keynote speakers will be men of outstanding character who are deeply rooted in the word of God and actively involved in students’ ministry.

These include Pastor Gilbert Sang who hails from Pan Africa Christian University and Brother Muriithi who is a student at Mukowe Secondary School in Lamu County.

As it is three days long rally, other speakers like Reverend Kibe and Pastor Simon from Kilifi and Nairobi counties respectively and Jeniffer, current Miss Tourism Lamu County, shall address the students as well.

Speaking about the challenges they face ahead of the rally, Evangelist Dan admits mobilizing students is no easy task.

 Students are usually not allowed to attend the rallies without being accompanied by a patron. In the absence of one, they end up not attending altogether.

Other calendar events like games and music festivals will challenge attendance. Hiring school buses for transportation will be difficult leaving students with no means of attending the rally.

“Lack of adequate funds to run the rallies is also a problem. But we have been supported by friends who understand our vision,” said Evangelist Dan.

Evangelist Dan Mott hosted two other major successful students’ word and prayer rallies in Kilifi and Kwale counties last year. The rallies had an attendance of about two thousand students from one hundred schools in each case.
