Kanye West slaps down election rigging rumours

Kanye West has doubled down on his claim he is in the Presidential election race to win – not just as a ploy to derail Democratic hopeful Joe Biden. The rapper has come under scrutiny this week amid allegations he has drafted in support from the Republican Party to boost his chances in the 2020 election race by ensuring his name appears on certain state ballots.

Growing theories suggest the music genius is running for power in an effort to damage 77-year-old Joe Biden’s chances of becoming the next President of the United States of America this November. Eyebrows were raised on Tuesday when a lawyer named Lane Rutland, who has worked on current President Donald Trump’s past campaigns, delivered ballot signatures to Wisconsin election officials on behalf of Kanye’s campaign.

The turn of events has provoked the New York Times to suggest: “Republican activists in at least half a dozen states are deeply involved in the effort to get Kanye West’s name before voters.” While TMZ reports: "The rapper's presidential campaign is facing increased scrutiny and skepticism lately, as various reports suggest it's being fueled by Republican political operatives working for President Trump to get Kanye on certain states' ballots ... in order to steal votes from Biden in November."

However, Kanye himself appears to have brushed off the concerns by taking to Twitter. He declared on Thursday: “THE GOAL IS TO WIN” with many interpreting his all caps font as a term of insistence. He also shared a mood board of his plans to win – showing his slogan “2020 Vision”, American eagles, a poster of Jesus, the number 46 which alludes to the fact a change in regime from President Trump would create the 46th president, and a poster of the USA with “WEST” stamped across it.

In an interview with Forbes magazine earlier this month, Kanye denied he had entered the race purely to steal votes from the Democratic Party and boost President Trump’s chances of re-election.
