Show me the OB number, Sakaja denies being arrested

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja on Saturday denied spending the night in a police cell for violating the Covid-19 regulations.

Through a tweet, the senator insisted that he has never been arrested, daring those saying he was arrested to produce the OB number.

“Never been arrested. Won’t be. Show me an OB Number,” he tweeted.

According to a police report, Sakaja was arrested at a bar in Kilimani area on Saturday morning.

This is after the police were alerted that a number of people were drinking at the premise.

On arrival, the officers found the senator in the company of several others and they were advised to leave immediately.

Sakaja is said to have declined, prompting the officers at the scene to call Kilimani Deputy OCPD Adan Hassan.

The senator together with three others were arrested for disobeying the curfew hours.

While in custody, Sakaja threatened the officers saying he could have them transferred within 24hours.

In a video seen by Ureport, the senator was seen shouting orders as he demanded to get his phone back.

He was later released.
