Kenyan who tested positive for Coronavirus has given names of people she interacted with

Kenya has confirmed its first case of Coronavirus after a patient tested positive on Thursday.

The 27-year-old lady is said to have taken herself to hospital after she started feeling unwell.

She is said to have landed in the country on March 5, 2020, and was returning from the US to Nairobi via London.

She was confirmed positive by the national influenza lab and is being managed at the Infectious Diseases Unit at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Friday lauded her bravery and sense of responsibility for taking herself to hospital after she noticed some symptoms of the virus.

Further, the patient revealed names of the people she interacted with and the government has also traced some of the people who were seated near her when she jetted back into the country.

As a precautionary measure, Kagwe has given the following orders:

  • Persons with a cough or sneeze to stay at home
  • Stay at home if you feel unwell with fever
  • All public gatherings suspended
  • All inter-schools events suspended
  • Public transport providers to provide hand sanitizers
  • All prison visits suspended
  • All crusades have been suspended but church activities can go on provided the church has a sanitizer at entry points
