Kilifi County has the highest number of atheists in Kenya at
146,669.
This is according to data released by the Kenya National
Bureau of Statistics. In total, there are 755,750 atheists in Kenya while 73,
253 do not know their stand.
Nakuru recorded 67, 640 atheists while Nairobi had 54,841.
The Atheists in Kenya Society welcomed the news but stated
they believe they are more than the numbers indicated.
In terms of religious affiliation, there were 15,777,473 protestants
while Catholics were 9,726,169.
Evangelical churches registered 9,648,690 while Muslims were
5,152,194.
School dropouts
Kirinyaga county has the highest number of school drop outs.
According to the census results, 24 per cent of people in
Kirinyaga dropped out from the institutions where they were registered.
Most school dropouts are in Mwea West and Kirinyaga East.
Embu County follows with 23.1 per cent of school drop outs.
Men are the biggest victims with the highest number of dropouts in Embu East
Sub county.
Nationally, almost seven million people have dropped out of
the institutions they were registered in.
According to the census results, 6.8 million Kenyans dropped
out of school while 7.1 million have never gone to school.
