wishing himself rest in peace message on social media.
The deceased, whom police got to identify as Denis Yego from
the Nandi County, hanged himself not so long after he had posted the RIP
messages on his Facebook account.
On Monday evening, the deceased posted, "Rest in peace
to me." Shortly after, he continued in another post, "kama kuna mtu
ananidai kam before midday tomorrow morning," loosely translated as,
"if I owe you any money, then come tomorrow morning before midday."
The late Yego reportedly attempted to murder his wife before
killing himself. He stabbed her several times, though she escaped death and is
now fighting for her life at Kapsabet referral Hospital.
MCA for Kabiyet Mr. Walter Teno recalled how the deceased,
together with his wife, had paid him a visit earlier in the fateful day,
seeking counseling over their marital indifferences.
"He came to my office with his wife. They were having
issues that they wanted me to help them solve. The wife had to run away from
their home. We talked, and they agreed to go and live together," recalled
Hon. Walter.
Police Commander for Nandi Mr. Samuel Ole Kine called upon
youths to seek help from religious leaders and other professionals, instead of
committing suicide.
He added that the deceased left no suicide note when his
corpse was discovered on Tuesday.
