Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni wants farmers to submit their cows for registration and issuance of birth certificates.
Museveni gave the order saying it was a marketing strategy that will improve the sale of livestock.

“People want to know what they are buying to eat, where it is coming from, its quality and what they are spending their money on. ,” Museveni said.
His words were echoed by the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and fisheries Vincent Ssempijja who said the move would open the market for livestock in Uganda and abroad
"The government will register both the farmers and their cows. It’s a move that will expand the business locally and internationally," said the Minister.
