Wanyama’s encouragement to Kenya after AFCON exit

Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama has thanked fans for supporting the national team during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite bowing out of the tournament at the hands of Senegal, Wanyama remained buoyant that the boys would only get better and participating in AFCON was a dream come true.

He added that the team has learnt a lot in Egypt and will step up to match Africa’s football powerhouses.

“It’s been our dream to participate in this special tournament. Obviously, we wanted to do well and go through the next stage but we fell short.

“We have learned a lot and that’s key…the lesson we have learned here; we can only get better. Thanks to all the fans who have been behind us since we started our journey,” he wrote on his official Instagram handle.

Wanyama will now enjoy a few days of rest before linking up with his Spurs teammates in pre-season training as they prepare for the English Premier League that starts in August.
