Ruto shocked as Waititu is rejected in Kiambu

It was a shocker that was pulled at a time it was least expected when Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was, on Sunday, heckled by his people at the full glare of the Deputy President.

Residents of Githurai, who had gathered to witness the Deputy President entourage, silenced the county boss after he attempted to address them.

His efforts to calm the crowds were futile after he was met with chants of “hatutaki” and “hakuna.”

The Kiambu County boss was among the Tanga Tanga leaders who had accompanied the Deputy President from a church service at St Martin’s Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) and Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) at Kahawa Wendani.

In the viral video shared on social media, the Governor is heard saying; “Ni sawa, lakini kile nataka mjue…” But he is eventually cut short before he concludes his plea.

This resistance comes on the wake of ongoing investigation pitting Governor Waititu and his immediate family members over corruption allegations in Kiambu County.

On his arrest a week ago, EACC Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak said the commission is investigating Waititu for the irregular award of tenders valued at Sh588 million to companies associated with Waititu and his immediate family members.
