Abducted boy, 7, rescued from house in Kawangware, Nairobi

A seven-year-old boy who was abducted from their Loresho home in Nairobi was yesterday rescued.

The boy who is a pupil at an international school was rescued from a house in Kawangware where he was being held by a woman.

The boy’s house girl and her daughter were arrested after it emerged they were behind the kidnap ordeal. The daughter was found with the boy in her one roomed house in Kawangware where she was making calls to the parents of the boy demanding a ransom of Sh3 million.

Police said the house girl had conspired with her daughter to commit the offence.

The victim was reunited with his family at their home yesterday afternoon. He was kidnapped from their home on Tuesday evening by the house girl’s daughter who drove there in a salon car.

According to the house girl Leah Muhoya, the “kidnapper” arrived in a salon car and told her she had been sent by the boy’s parents to pick the boy and return him later.

The kidnapper who has since been found to be the daughter of Ms Muhoya later called the boy’s parents demanding a ransom of Sh3 million to release the boy.

Officers from Special Crimes Prevention Unit raided a house where the boy was held and rescued him unharmed.

The two are expected in court today to face various charges.

Head of the unit Pius Gitari said they are investigating to establish if there are other parties that were involved in the incident.
