Kanze Dena on why President Uhuru’s social media accounts were deactivated

State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena has, for the first time, spoken about the deactivation of Uhuru’s Social Media accounts.

Speaking to Radio Maisha on Monday morning, Kanze said the Presidents’ social media accounts were personal and that he, President Uhuru, reserve the rights to decide whether he want them active or not.

“The Presidents’ social media handles are his. It is his decision to choose whether he wants them active or not. That is his choice and we respect that,” said Kanze.

On March 22, President Uhuru’s social media handles were deactivated leaving Kenyans shell shocked at what could have prompted the move.

Later on the Chief of Staff in the Office of The President, Nzioka Waita, stated that all official social media handles, Twitter and Facebook, of the President had been temporarily suspended to allow for remedial measures to be undertaken.
