Metallic box causes panic at Odeon, Nairobi

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Monday took an unattended metallic box for analysis after a bomb scare at Odeon.

Photos and videos shared online showed a metallic box outside Odeon and police kept away curious members of the public from the scene.

Police are yet to establish who left the box there but it was taken away and normalcy was restored.

This comes barely two days after what is believed to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off at the junction of Latema Road and Tom Mboya Street, injuring two people.

As of Monday, investigators were still analyzing the evidence to get to the bottom of the matter.

It was reported that a woman in a hijab had asked a cart-pusher to transport her goods to Kenya Cinema but excused herself on pretense that she had forgotten her Identification Card at a nearby shop.

A few minutes later a loud blast was heard and members of the public scampered for safety.

Police have since urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity in their surroundings.
