MP confesses to using tricks to gain allowances

An MP yesterday shot himself in the foot when he unconsciously confessed before National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi that he had just walked out from Parliamentary Committee where he just appeared to register his presence.

The lawmaker was late for Powers and Privileges Committee session and offered an apology when he told Muturi that he had gone to sign presence in another committee in which he is a member.

The Speaker was visibly surprised by the remarks since it became at the backdrop of his communication to the House, where he warned MPs against appearing in committees briefly.
