When a single mother breaks down

My child,You sleep so peacefully;But my heart is broken.The dating scene is so cruel to single mothers.

Today I broke up with him.I broke up with the man that I thought would be my husband,The man I thought he would love both you and me.It turns out it wasn't meant to be.

We broke up because he was only using me.He never cared about you;Many times he avoided you.He made me believe in him.

He thought I was desperate.Too many men think that single mothers are desperate.He thought loving me was doing you and I a favour.He thought I was a damsel in distress in need of saving.

Little did he know I am not desperate;I just want to love, to take care of a husband.I have so much love to give,And I happen to be blessed by having you.

You are not a burden but a blessing;You are not a reason to discourage men.The right man, if he truly loves me,He will be excited about knowing you.

I really was beginning to love him,That's why it hurts.I gave him my time, my emotions, my body;We made love only for him to cheat on me.

Foolish me, misled by my pursuit of love.Imagine if I never used protection,I would become a single mother,With another child sired by a dead beat father.

He's cheated on me with another woman.He claims that other woman is better because she has no child.Little does that other woman know,That he is cheating on her with a third woman.

I am not the problem, you are not the problem.I will not beat myself up thinking I am unattractive.He is simply a man not worthy of a good woman.God had to protect us before things between him and I got deeper.

I should have seen the red flags, they were many;His avoidance to spend time with you,His secrecy, his demanding of things to go his way,His insistence on sex to prove that I love him.

I was wrong for letting him in and introducing you to him.You will start asking me questions when you see him know more.It is not my desire to introduce multiple men to you;Please don't ever see your mommy as unstable, changing men.

You are my priority.I will keep focussing on us,I will provide the best life for you;Though God knows I desire love.

I desire an adult to talk to, to share you with.I desire companionship, a life partner.I know one day God will do it;God has done it for others, He will not forget me.

I still believe in love.I still believe one day that man will find us.One day you will grow up,And realize how great the need for love is.

I have made many mistakes in the name of love,But you are not one of them.I promise you, I will think of you,As I decide who I give my precious heart to.
