No more food for uni staff who gatecrash

The staff at Kisii University will no longer enjoy meals served in internal meetings at the institution in future.

The staff are said to paint a bad image of the institution before guests who regularly come to the campus. This follows a recent incident where some senior staff missed food during an event in the campus.

A memo signed by the Registrar, Administration, Christopher Nyenze, issued a stern warning against workers who were fond of gatecrashing meetings only during food time.

“Whenever we have council meetings and other university guests, some of our university staff, including casuals who are not directly involved in the exercise, gatecrash at the serving point even before all guests have served food,” read part of the memo.

Nyenze explained that the casuals who scavenge on guests’ food were known by those working in the catering department and therefore, it was hard to stop them.

He added that disciplinary measures will be taken against those who defy the order.

A casual worker who requested anonymity said, “There is nothing wrong in eating with guests, the university caters for that.”
