I pity the ladies in Nairobi who struggle to walk in heels. I have seen countless Kenyan women who trip while trying to ‘cat walk’ in the name of looking sexy and hot. What’s the point? It is embarrassing.
The other day, I saw this beautiful couple (I assumed) walking right in front of me giving me a clear view of them. The lady had put on very high wedges but she could not really walk straight in them. She kept wobbling from side to side since the guy was walking faster and the girl was trying to catch up with him. So at one point, the lady tripped on a stone and fell to her feet, she quickly got up with the help of her man.
“Mbona unanisukuma aki woishe… huwezi nihold hand” she told the guy who was already mercilessly laughing at her.
I did not listen to the rest of their discussions as I walked past them trying to hold my breath not to laugh out loud. That is just one of the many embarrassing moments I have witnessed of ladies struggling to walk in high heels/wedges. Be rest assured to find these ladies walking like newborn calfs in Nairobi streets.
What’s even more surprising is the fact that these same women will put on the same shoes over and over again even after tripping on them! My advice to all women is that if you want to put on heels for a certain occasion, please remember to carry an extra pair of flat shoes with you, that is, if you don’t have a car and there is a walking distance. Otherwise if you know you will struggle walking in those heels, don’t wear them at all because the rest of us are left wondering why you want to hurt yourself.
