On Wednesday morning, a female police officer attached to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shot herself dead in the toilet while at work. This suicide comes just three weeks after another officer in Kisumu shot himself dead.
There are few or not studies on why suicide in disciplined forces is on the rise in Kenya. However, a study on soldiers who had attempted suicide at Fort Carson, Colorado, found one common reason - a desire to end intense psychological suffering and pain.
