Be tough to end doping menace

The recent spate of doping claims by Kenyan athletes have raised a lot of concern.

Athletics has always been Kenya's trademark. To watch our hard-earned achievements go down the drain because of doping is painful and heartbreaking.

The recent passage of the Anti-doping Bill by the National Assembly, albeit late, almost cost us a place in Rio Olympics. In fact, Kenya's participation in the games to be held in August lies with the International Olympics Committee.

The Anti-doping Bill did not seem to meet Wada's threshold.

More stringent laws should be put in place to end doping.

Proper sensitisation should be done, both at national and grassroots levels, on the negative consequences of doping.

One wonders when did the rain start beating us. How did doping find its place in our country when initially it was only heard of in the First World countries?

Doping should be declared a national disaster. We should have zero tolerance to doping.
