One man, one woman relationships control cervical cancer, says Machakos health boss

Machakos Health CEC has called on women and men to have one partner to curb spread of cervical cancer.

Speaking during a four-and-a-half kilometre walk to create awareness to screening for cervical cancer in Machakos, Dr. Daniel Yumbya said that since the beginning of the year 2023 Machakos level five referral hospital had screened over one thousand patients.

"Since the year 2019, we have screened about five thousand patients. This year when we began screening so far twenty patients have turned positive at very minor stages. None of the patients are at a critical stage." He said.

The former Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council (KMPDC) CEO said that cancer was treatable when identified at early stages.

"My appeal on behalf of Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti is that all women in Machakos County please go for cancer screening so that we can establish the stage you are in." Dr. Yumbya said.

Dr. Yumbya vowed that they were going to manage cancer-related cases since the hospitals had adequate medicines and qualified health workers who can take care of the patient's needs.

He also encouraged girls aged between 12 and 18 years to get free cancer vaccines and urged citizens to live a life of protection by eating good nutrition.
