Emmy Kosgei: I know gospel musicians stuck in abusive marriages due to pressure to appear perfect

Are some wives of Kenyan pastors suffering in silence?

This is what the majority of believers have been left to speculate following the revelation by popular gospel artiste Emmy Kosgei on a long post on social media in which she claimed to know some wives of Kenyan preachers suffering in silence.

“I know pastors and pastor’s wives enduring abuse in the name of the lord and church,” the Kalenjin songbird wrote in a lengthy post.

“There is no special place for marital conquerors of wicked spouses in heaven we must be sober to not sacrifice ourselves for any abusers,” she added.

According to the singer who is married to a Nigerian Bishop, celebrity couples fake it so as to appear religiously perfect to fans and followers.

“Don’t die for anyone, only Jesus died for everybody! Stop enduring in the name of “God hates divorce,” she further warned, adding: “Please empower yourself so you don’t become a slave to poverty. Parents don’t force your daughters to endure, don’t close the doors of a place they call home.”

Emmy walked down the aisle with Bishop Anselm Madubuko, General Overseer of Revival Assembly Church, Nigeria in a colourful wedding in 2013, a move that left people talking given their age difference.

In an interview with a leading magazine, Emmy described her husband as a “Very mature and clean-hearted man who has showered her with affection as she had never experienced before.”

She said, “Anselm and I understand each other so much, there’s no room for conflict or misunderstanding.”
