Parents in last minute shopping rush for Form One learners

"Right now, schools want us to buy standard uniforms from specific shops and that is why there are such long queues," she said.

Wambui said she was occupied with work on the weekdays and could not find time to buy the uniforms. Her son is joining Langalanga Secondary School.

Lucy Moraa who had been sent by her parents to buy uniforms and books for her sister joining Naivasha Girls could not hide her frustration but remained hopeful she would get everything she wanted to buy.

"I am not sure what I will find inside the uniform shop but I fear the money I carried won't be enough as the cost of many things has gone up," she lamented.

Shop owners cashed in on the booming business and projected the situation to be the same throughout the weekend and early next week.

Form One students will be joining their new school from tomorrow.
