Husband's taste for dolls rocks marriage

BY JAMES KURIA

If you think dolls are for women, you are mistaken. Residents of Kihingo village in Njoro District were recently treated to a free drama after a woman exposed her husband’s weird taste for dolls.

Peter, whose wife claims he has never consummated their marriage, is an employee of a flower farm in Kang’utu Estate.

According to his wife, the two courted for 10 years before they could marry. During their courtship, Peter always evaded the issue of marriage despite his advanced age. The wife informed the church and Peter was summoned immediately by the church elders.

When asked to give an explanation, Peter said he wanted to buy the household items first. The pastor requested the church members to contribute for him so that he could start a family. Some church members even went ahead to buy him items like a television set and fridge.

Thinking he would start the nuptial plans, the church was in for a rude shock. Peter stopped going to church feigning sickness. He also shunned the church members who paid him a visit. His change of behaviour made the pastor summon his relatives for advice. Peter soon accepted to marry.

One of the neighbours, however, explained to Crazy Monday that Peter was fond of dolls before he got married.

"I used to see him carrying dolls when going to the shopping centre," he said adding that he had many dolls in the house.

After their honeymoon, the wife reported that Peter ignored her and instead preoccupied himself with dolls.

"He chased me out of bed so that he could hold a doll," she said. Peter also ceased going to church and instead spent the day watching movies at home.

"My husband has never been concerned with my conjugal rights since we got married," she said. His reason for this is that he feared having children. "He calls them mouths to eat, mouths to take medicine, mouths to wail and mourn in case of discomfort. I no longer understand him," she added. Recently, the woman went berserk and demanded that her hubby gives an explanation for his weird behavior. Instead of an explanation, Peter abused her and threatened to divorce her the following day.

"I told my relatives that I was not ready to marry you but they could not listen," he said.

The noise attracted the neighbours. "I married a fellow woman who sleeps with dolls when I am just next to him," the woman told the curious onlookers. The woman also surprised the neighbours when she told them how Peter bought dolls while ignoring basic commodities.

The church elders were summoned for arbitration. When asked to account for his conduct, Peter blamed one of his college mates who introduced him to dolls.

"He coached me how to sleep with dolls to overcome the temptation for women," he said adding he wanted to adopt a child but his idea was rejected.
