Make-up tips for dudes

By Yunia Kuria

The world is changing and with the emerging trend, has come the style of a well-groomed, perfect, thoroughly clean-shaven man with fashionable glasses.

The cosmetic industry has released products that target men. Guys have become more open towards the utilisation of make-up, which was once regarded as the women’s domain.

The ultimate purpose of make-up is to improve features, mask imperfections and improve self-esteem.

Foundation: Men without beards can use a basic foundation to cover up acne or scars on the facial area and neck. If you have a lot of facial hair, use a concealer since this will not aggravate your skin or get caked up on the face. Concealers created just for men’s skin are now available.

Appropriate colour of foundation: Pick a shade that is a single shade darker than your skin.

Guys have bigger pores than women thus their skin gets dirtier, which consequently results in a blockage of pores causing an acne breakout. To prevent these kinds of disasters, use water-based foundation that suits your skin colour.

Blending: Utilise face powder and foundation in a proper manner so that they don’t form patches on your face. It is better to distribute it equally on the face using your fingers.

Tinted moisturisers would be an alternative choice to foundation. Avoid the ones with glimmer as nobody wants to see a man with a shining face.

Mattifying cream: Rub the cream in between your fingertips prior to dabbing it on the typical shiny areas, including your temple and nose.

Lips: Use a wet toothbrush to gently exfoliate your lips. This rids the lips of dried out and rough skin. You can then apply a layer of lip balm.

Eyebrows: Ask your hairstylist or barber to clip them the next time you visit the salon.

If you take good care of your looks and how you apply make-up, no one will ever know that you are wearing it!
