After successfully staging the inaugural Ruiru Open, last weekend, the par-73 Ruiru Sports Club will this weekend play host to the annual Accountants Golf Day tournament.

The accountants are armed and ready to battle on Saturday after spending the previous weeks dissecting the budget estimates.

Still in mint condition, a big field of 250 plus golfers have been drawn up for the tourney where an array of great prizes are up for grabs.

According to Club Captain Jessy Ndegwa, the fairways and greens are in impeccable shape. The meet is presented by IQPlus, Mazaars LLP, and Minet Insurance, among others.

The membership of the Ruiru Sports Club includes more than one hundred accountants.

Long-hitting Saidimu, Chris Kiai, current vice captain J.K. Muraguri, who was the best accountant last year with 37 points, FCPA John Nyaga, Isaac Githinji and John Gitau, who won the 2017 edition and will be attempting to lift the tournament for a second time in six years, are among the accountants who will compete tenaciously for the honours.

All of them should anticipate a formidable challenge from their fellow accountants, such as the unpredictable CPA Mike Nyangi, Sam Kangau and Grace Miano, who is expected to lead the challenge in the women's category.

Local best amateurs such as Bernard Omondi, Kenneth Kimathi and last week's Monthly Mug champion Timothy Mwaura are equally expected to give the accountants a run for their money.
