With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is in the market for a central midfielder.

AC Milan ace Franck Kessie emerged as an early favourite to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, but the club struggled to meet the Serie A giants' demands for the Ivorian.

And now according to hitc.com, Wolves should make a shock move for Victor Wanyama's services to bolster their midfield.

The reports also add that considering the fact Wanyama is a lot cheaper than Kessie and is arguably a better player with plenty of Premier League experience, Wolves should not hesitate to make him their top transfer target this summer.

With Spurs looking to bring in more cash to boost Mauricio Pochettino's transfer fund ahead of transfer window deadline, Wanyama is likely to be sold by Tottenham if the right offer comes along.

The 28-year-old spent a huge part of last season on the sidelines due to injuries and reports in the UK have been pointing towards him leaving the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the close of the summer transfer window.

He is now a prime target of Premier League sides Bournemouth, West Ham and Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Wanyama’s place in Spurs’ midfield has been in doubt over the past few years, now that the club have Ndombele, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier who all look more likely to start ahead of him.

He reunited with his former Southampton manager Pochettino at White Hart Lane in 2016 after £11million move.

Wanyama has already made 387 appearances for club and Kenya.
