Tottenham midfielder, Victor Wanyama has responded to transfer speculation amid links with an exit from Spurs.

Wanyama has been linked with an exit from Tottenham before the close of the summer transfer window after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham due to his injury record last season- where he spent a lot of time on the sidelines and only managed 13 appearances in the league for Spurs.

In an interview with ESPN, Wanyama said no team has come out to pursue his signature and was not thinking about moving out of the club.

“I will be back in training with Spurs next week. I do not want to dwell much on speculations because it’s normal for a player to be linked with other clubs when the transfer window is open but I’m not going anywhere,” ESPN quoted Wanyama.

West Ham are some of the clubs reportedly considering a summer move for the 28-year-old with new reports also saying the arrival of Spurs’ newest signing Tanguy Ndombele meant he would be Wanyama’s replacement.

Spurs completed a club-record deal (£65m) for Ndombele who signed a six-year contract with the club

“I have not spoken to any other team because I aim to remain at Spurs and to help my team next season. I have a running contract with Tottenham which I intend to honour.

“But in football, anything can happen. Things can change really quick. For now, I am on holiday, I am enjoying time with my family after a long season with the club and national team during the Africa Cup of Nations. It’s time to relax a little ahead of the new season.

“The target is to have an injury-free season. I believe in my abilities and I will always work hard to give my best in matches.”
