Ndegwa delights in bagging maiden UAP victory

Nelson Ndegwa is the overall winner of the UAP corporate golf day that was played at the picturesque Karen Golf and Country Club over the weekend.

Ndegwa edged out Paul Mugambi, the eventual overall runner-up, on countback, after returning to the clubhouse with a commendable score of 39 stableford points.

During the tournament presented by UAP Old Mutual in partnership with a medical service provider Amber, saw 250 golfers battle for top honors.

Hot on Ndegwa and Mugambi’s heels was Rameck Njiru, who carded 38 stableford points, one point less, to finish overall third.

“It’s a special feeling, especially being my maiden victory in an event of this stature. I enjoy a special bond with today’s sponsor, UAP/Old Mutual, my insurance provider and a company that I support,” said Ndegwa in his winner’s speech.

“It’s a special feeling, savouring a special moment. In short, it’s a dream come true, with this memorable win. I had a competitive round. The course didn’t disappoint either as my four-ball provided for the much needed playing company."

Rose Mkok, who carded 36 stableford points, won in the ladies' category, beating Karen Club’s lady captain, Louisa Gitau on countback.

Jennifer Murigu settled for Lady winner third prize on a score of 34 stableford points.

Bernard Kiraithe won the Agent winner prize on a score of 34 stableford points, with Mary Maingi taking the Broker prize on a score of 33 stableford points.

Stephen Koigi won the Customer prize on a score of 37 stableford points.

Joseph Otuke won the Senior winner prize on a score of 32 stableford points.

Vet Labs’ Robinson Owiti was the Gross winner with 76 as George Odinga bagged the Staff prize on a score of 31 stableford points.

On a paltry score of 11 stableford points, J Muiruiri took the Piga Mingi/Best effort prize.

Louisa Gitau was the Longest Drive Women winner.
