Spanish coach praises Ujuzisoka players’ mentality

Koolton Sports Academy coach Marc Miguel has praised the mentality of Kenyan footballers from Ujuzisoka Academy currently training in Spain.

Miguel said the youngsters aged between 12 and 15 years are eager to succeed, an attitude he described is important for their development.

“They are eager to learn the basics of the game,” Miguel said yesterday.

“Attitude is very important and I can’t fault these kids on their attitude. They have come this far off a country and have shown the willingness to acquire basic skills. This is a good start,” Miguel added.

The Kenyans are in Salou, near Barcelona, Spain and have been training at Cambril Stadium.

Densil Kalume, a student at Light Academy in Mombasa, was pleased with the experience of training in a country famed for football.

“I admire Andres Iniesta (former Barcelona captain) and I would like to one day play like him,” Kalume said.

“I have learnt the importance of dribbling and being able to use both feet, when to take on an opponent or when to just take one touch and pass the ball and open space for my teammates,” Kalume said.

On Saturday, Ujuzisoka Academy players visited the one of the world’s grandest football arenas, Barcelona’s Camp Nou before barcelona played Deportivo Alaves at the 98000-seater stadium.
