MANCHESTER DERBY: Guardiola’s assistant left with blood running down his face after tunnel bust-up

Dubbed ‘Derby of the Season’ by most football pundits, Manchester United lost at home to local rivals Manchester City, sparking a dressing room bust-up between players and officials from both teams.

Goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi saw Man City end Man United’s unbeaten run at home (40 games).

According to reports, Man united manager Jose Mourinho stormed into City’s dressing room to confront the Guardiola’s players over the wild celebrations. He is said to have accused Ederson (Man City keeper) of not having respect, leading to break out of a war of words.

Reports also say that Mourinho was hit on the head with a plastic water bottle and milk, escalating the bust-up before police intervened.

One of Pep Guardiola’s assistants, former Arsenal and Everton player Mikel Arteta was left with blood running down his face after being cut above the eyebrow in the brawl.

Eyewitnesses claim that striker Romelu Lukaku was a central figure in the bust-up.

After the match, Mourinho blamed referee Michael Oliver for the loss, saying that his team was denied a clear penalty, which was the same case last season when Claudio Bravo dived into Wayne Rooney.

Ander Herrera looked like he was fouled in the box but the referee stood his ground.

Romelu Lukaku missed a sitter minutes to full time, Ederson making two extraordinary saves to deny the Belgian.

Guardiola’s men now extend their lead at the top to 11 points and Mourinho already feels like the title race is over.

Another coach who feels that the title race is over is Chelsea’s Antonio Conte. His team lost 1-0 to a resurgent West Ham at the Olympic Stadium.
