Winners dismiss Ultimate as MICT hold Sandstorm at 12-goal international tournament.

Space & Style thrashed Ultimate 4-1.5 as Kenya International 12-Goal Polo Tournament got underway at Nairobi Polo Club in Jamhuri yesterday.

Nikki Ngugi scored a hat-trick as Cindy Voorspuy added another goal. Ultimate, who had a fraction advantage, managed only one goal in the match through Michael Camm in the last chukka.

Mombasa Island Cargo Terminal (MICT) comprising Jadini and Amani Nzomo, Lorenzo Soriano and Cheza Millar held Sandstorm 4-4.

Lorenzo scored a brace as Millar and Jadini added a goal for MICT. Morten Jensen notched a hat-trick while Antony Wahome added a goal for Sandstorm to level terms.

South Africa’s Duncan Watson was among the star attractions in the 12-goal contest.

Just like in the Six-Goal contest which was won by Sandstorm last weekend, teams contracted top internationals from around the globe that ran the show.

The internationals included South African hard hitter Watson who jetted in this week, having steered Samurai to victory.

The 25-year-old Watson, handicap five, has huge polo experience having picked up the sport while aged 10. He has played professional polo in USA, United Kingdom, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Nigeria and Malaysia.

“I also take pride in having some of the best polo horses in South Africa,” said Duncan, a large scale farmer. Duncan competed alongside his cousin, Guy Watson.
