Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema set to be Alexis Sanchez replacement?

Karim Benzema is once again being lined up by Arsenal - and could replace Alexis Sanchez this summer.

Don Balon report that Benzema is being considered by the Gunners as they prepare for Chilean star Sanchez's probable exit from the Emirates.

Sanchez is yet to sign a new contract at Arsenal, despite a big money offer being on the table.

The Gunners have been linked with Benzema over each of the past three summers but a move has never materialised.

But they are now reportedly hopeful of landing the 29-year-old's services, given that Real are also allegedly looking at snapping up other strikers themselves.

Many Arsenal fans are currently contemplating what life without Mesut Ozil might look like, writes Mirror Football's Richard Innes.

With the Gunners assist king still yet to sign a new contract, rumours linking the German midfielder with a move away from the Emirates refuse to go away.

Some Gooners are convinced it's the lure of bigger wages which could tempt their most creative player to leave. However, Ozil has just revealed an offer he received last summer which suggests that, if money was his motivating force, he would already be playing elsewhere.

And where did this offer come from? Yep, you guessed it: the Chinese Super League.

"When I got an offer from China last summer," he writes, "I didn't need advice because the offer was too absurd. The Chinese were prepared to pay me £100million net over a period of five years. A fairy tale amount of money that went beyond the limits of my imagination."

Arsene Wenger has urged his Arsenal stars to put the club’s turmoil aside and to win back the fans after last Monday night’s surrender at Crystal Palace, writes Mirror Football's Darren Lewis.

The Gunners go to Middlesbrough seventh in the Premier League, ten points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with only two games in hand.

Fans vented their fury at Crystal Palace last week, calling for Wenger to go and rounding on the players.

The Arsenal boss has responded by calling on his stars to man up and make amends at the Riverside Stadium tonight.

He said: “The fans want to be behind the team and the way we respond on the football pitch will decide the attitude of the fans.

“The fans love the club. It’s a good period to be united and not divided. Historically Arsenal has been about that.”
