Kayole Starlet beat Soccer Queens 1-0 in the first round fixture of Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League fixture at MYSA grounds yesterday.

Faith Awour scored the lone goal for the debutants in the 58th minute.

In another match played in Naivasha, Oserian Ladies beat Palos 3-0 with goals from Dorcas Shikobe (2) and Jentrix Nabwire. Starlet coach Joshua Sakwa said the win is a motivation for his charges ahead of upcoming league matches.

“This is our first match in the top league and it’s a good start. We started the match defending from the first whistle because we didn’t have an idea on how they play.

“I’m happy we got maximum points at home,” said Sakwa.

Starlet started the match on a high with Jackline Akinyi forcing Soccer Queens’ custodian Vivian Akinyi to push the ball out for a throw in in the second minute.

Queens replied almost immediately but Vivian Corazone’s shot went wide.

Starlets’ Akinyi was brought down in front of the goal area with Audry Magofia taking the responsibility but her shot went over the bar. [Rebecca Jebet]
