The impending club elections and last Sunday’s botched Special General Meeting is causing ripples at Gor Mahia.
At a press briefing in Nairobi yesterday, the clubs’ branch chairmen slammed the office over its shoddy dealings on the matter.
The branch officials also gave the club’ executive a one-month ultimatum to call for elections or quit office. The elections were due 10 months ago but have not been held.
Incumbent Ambrose Rachier is facing a stern test from entrepreneur Dan Oketch and the youthful Chris Omondi, who want to unseat him.
And in Nairobi yesterday, the angry branch leaders, led by Kondele branch chairman Hezron Okoth, flanked by 15 other chairmen raised the red flag over the office’s reluctance to put in place clear modalities and guidelines for the elections.
“We have come out to categorically state our case because elections are long overdue. They were to be held in February but up to now there is no sign of it,” Okoth said.
“We want an Annual General Meeting to be called because on Sunday, the club was to have an SGM which was called off without proper explanation,” Okoth charged.
