When Jemimah Jelagat Sumgong tested positive for banned substance prednisolone in her post-race anti-doping test after finishing second at the 2012 Boston Marathon, all hell broke loose.

Athletics Kenya handed her a two-year ban, but she was cleared after an appeal to IAAF. The federation said the injection she received was permitted under IAAF rules.

And true to her wish to prove critics wrong, Sumgong chalked up victory at the London Marathon on Sunday – just two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta assented to the Anti-Doping Bill, 2016.
