FKF: Agro, Shabana win as AFC fail to honour match

 

Agrochemicals beat Modern Coast 2-0 on Saturday’s FKF Premier League match at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Goals by Oscar Oketch in the 44th and 63rd minutes were enough to give Agro all three points at home.
At Afraha Stadium, Shabana edged out Ligi Ndogo 1-0 to keep a clean sheet in the competition.

Lidi Ndogo chairman Chris Amimo said after the loss that his boys were not at their best, but have learnt valuable lessons from the match.

“We played badly in the first half and allowed them an easy goal. But it is too early in the season and we still have 33 games to go. We will work on our mistakes and get better in future,” he said.

As expected the match between AFC Leopards and West Sugar did not take off after the former failed to turn up. Leopards have pledged their allegiance to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) and were not expected to travel to Mumias for the fixture.
On a day of drama, Leopards announced they have fired team manager Willies Waliula after he was accused of working with a rival group to send a team to Mumias.

Waliula who joined Leopards last year from Tusker was accused by club officials of working with a rival group that wants to take over running of the club.

However, even after failing to travel to Mumias, Leopards did not even train after majority of their players stayed away protesting a delay in payment of their dues.

Meanwhile, Postal Corporation of Kenya are the champions of the 2015 East African Standard Chartered Road to Anfield 5-aside football tournament.

The Postmen emerged the winners after amassing 10 points, three ahead of Uganda’s Roofing Limited, in a three-nations competition played in a home-away format, at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies, on Saturday.

Roofing Ltd and Tanzania’s Wananchi Limited were making their maiden appearance at the games after the tournament was upgraded this year to a regional competition.

Following the victory, Posta will now travel to England for the global tournament involving 10 teams from across the Standard Chartered Group network. Last year, the region was represented by the Standard Group Limited.
