KCB to play Nondies in the Floodlit finals

KCB RFC will square out against the Nondescripts in the 2023 Impala Floodlit finals, to be played at the Impala Grounds, Nairobi.

KCB booked their slot in the finals by dismantling their nemesis, Menengai Oilers, 41-21, to advance into the much-anticipated finals as Nondies rallied to defeat Blak Blad 20-14.

The defending champions opened their account through the Scrum half Samuel Asati, which was successfully converted by the ever-smiling assassin Darwin Mukidza.

Felix Ojoo grabbed the second try for the bankers as Festus Shiashi signed off the first-half scores with a well-played try following an assist from Asati.

Darwin once again stepped up on his kicking duties, converting the tries to give the bankers a comfortable 24-00 lead at the interval.

KCB’s Mike Wamalwa's brilliance in the second half was nothing short of exceptional as he masterfully wiggled his way through the opposition's defence, resulting in not one but two remarkable tries for the bankers.

Mukidza’s penalty kick sealed the banker’s win, booking its place in the finals to be played on 28 October 2023.

KCB head Coach Curtis Olago said, “I couldn't be prouder of the boys today. They showed incredible resilience, teamwork, and determination on the field, and that's what rugby is all about.

Menengai Oilers showed great resilience in the second half, battling hard for well-earned tries to claim 21 points against KCB. Nondies, on their part, defeated Balk Blad 20-14 to book a slot in the finals.

“Oilers are one of the toughest teams in the league right now. In the second half, they showed us what they can do when they get an opportunity. Either way, the scores count and onwards to the cup finals,” KCB scrum half Samuel Asati added.
