Panic as Baringo Health Chief Officer sends death threats to doctors

Kabarnet, Kenya: Panic gripped Kabarnet County Hospital after Health Chief Officer Dr Gideon Toromo threatened the county’s health minister Moses Atuko and nine doctors over an impending health workers’ strike at the facility.

Dr Toromo, who has been diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia, is alleged to have sent death threats to several doctors at the facility forcing the doctors to flee the hospital on Tuesday night.

Dr Toromo was in 2010 diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia after he shot and killed a teacher using a poisoned arrow in Milimani Estate, Nakuru.

During the vetting for the Chief Executive Health position, Dr Toromo admitted that he shot four poisoned arrows killing one person but was acquitted by court of murder charges on grounds that the killing was not intentional and that he was suffering from a mental disorder at the time.
