Terminus to get Sh100m facelift

Governor Patrick Khaemba has said Sh100 million will be used to upgrade Kitale Bus Terminus to ease the current congestion.

This was after county officials met the business community in the town following a series of demonstrations by residents last week.

The demonstrators, mostly matatu operators and hawkers, had accused the governor of doing little to expand the town, currently experiencing congestion and poor drainage.

In yesterday's meeting, both parties agreed that the town was in need of adequate and modern structures.

"I have called all the relevant authorities and residents so that we can agree and work as a team. I have already set aside Sh100 million for purposes of constructing a modern and spacious bus terminus," Mr Khaemba said.

"We are also working on modalities on how to install new water pipes in each of the wards across the county," he added.

Khaemba blamed some Members of the County Assembly and parliamentarians for inciting traders to demonstrate.

"I know exactly where the problems is, the people of Trans Nzoia still have faith in me, especially when it comes to development. Detractors will not succeed," he said.
