Elephant Neighbours Centre protests elephant poaching

A wildlife conservation lobby group has raised concern over the increased cases of elephants poaching. The last one month has seen two elephants killed at Laikipia Nature and Conservancy Ranch owned by conservationist Kukki Gallman.

The Elephant Neighbours Centre Director Jim Nyamu, said more effort should be put to ensure elephants are well conserved to prevent their extinct. “More than 33,000 elephants have been killed in Africa in the last two years. The recent happenings in Laikipia are of great concern and we have to do everything possible to end the killings,” he said.

He added that security personnel should be deployed in the ranches within Laikipia to prevent the crime that is affected the wildlife.
