Nakuru/Kajiado, Kenya: Property worth millions of shillings was reduced to ashes after fire gutted down school dormitories.

No one was however, injured in the early morning incidents at Phoenix Lakeview School in Naivasha and Sacred Heart Secondary School in Rongai.

At Phoenix Lakeview School, it took the intervention of fire fighters from Naivasha Municipal Council and Finlay Flower farm to put out the fire.

The school’s director Samuel Mwangi said they suspected the fire may have been caused by an electric fault. Samuel Mukundi, a witness, said nothing was salvaged from the dormitory due to the intensity of the fire.

At Sacred Heart, workers and students managed to put out the fire that destroyed ceilings of three dormitories.

Students who were already attending morning classes joined workers in putting out the fire before Rongai Workshop Fire brigade put out the fire.

“We suspect the fire was caused by an electric fault. We have contacted Kenya power to assess the cause of the fire,” Rongai police boss Joseph Mwamburi said.
