NYERI: Deputy President William Ruto has told off Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) over their plans of taking over the government come 2017. Ruto said while the Jubilee Coalition has a presidential candidate to contest the presidency and his sponsor party unlike the opposition.

Ruto said the opposition was playing politics of guesswork, noting that they cannot compete with the Jubilee government.

He said Kenyans cannot trust leaders who do not have a party nor a candidate for the presidency.

“We already have a presidential candidate in Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP). The opposition cannot be trusted with the leadership since they do not even have a party nor a candidate,” said Ruto.

Speaking during a fundraiser in aid of Othaya Constituency Education fund at Othaya Stadium Friday, Ruto asked Kenyans to support the government’s programmes, saying it was the only way to ensure all corners of the country are developed.

He was accompanied by Nyeri Deputy Governor Samuel Wamathai and other local leaders.

The politicians who took to the podium asked the opposition to follow Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s example and tell the truth about the fixing of the Deputy President and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang.

“Our president is now off the hook, and the culprits should come out and tell the truth behind their evil deeds,” said Murang'a women representative Sabina Chege. The leaders called on Kenyans to pray for the DP and Sang to be acquitted.
