The tall tale of Pastor Dorcas's crusade overrun by Mungiki as police look on

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is consoled by his wife Pastor Dorcas after being discharged from Karen hospital where he had been admitted after falling ill during his impeachment proceedings on October 20, 2024. [File, Standard]

My heart went out to Riggy G last weekend, when he was reportedly holed up in a Nyeri hotel, where he sought refuge as gangs associated with the pseudo religious and political outfit, Mungiki, descended on a Christian crusade where former Second Lady, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, was preaching.

Riggy G is the self-styled son of Mau Mau, so it was interesting he did not challenge the disruption from Maina Njenga's camp, or even whose idea it was for Dorcas to flee the scene instead of waiting for rescue from Riggy G.
