Kisumu, Kenya: Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has demanded immediate arrest of “notorious” criminals who killed a watchman, wounded a child and torched several houses along the volatile border of Kisumu and Kericho Counties.

Speaking at Hola village in Nyakach district where criminals, the governor said security agencies from both counties must bring to book all the criminals behind the mayhem.

“In order to restore peace and tranquillity along the volatile border, the county commissioners from both Kericho and Kisumu Counties must work with speed and lead their respective security teams into arresting criminals behind the melee since some of them are known,” Ranguma said.

The governor ruled out allegation that the attackers were cattle rustlers by pointing out that one of the homesteads they struck were not livestock keepers.

“These were not cattle raiders but common thieves out to steal other people’s properties” Ranguma said.

The governor said he will work with his Kericho county counterpart Paul Chepkwony in an effort to find a lasting solution to end the cycle of violence and other criminal activities along the border.
