60 global artistes raise Sh97b for climate change awareness

Billed as one of the greatest charity music extravaganza of all times, the Global Citizen festival did not disappoint as over 60 artistes answered the call to raise awareness on climate change and ending poverty.

With thousands attending the main shows in New York and Accra, Ghana, millions from across the world followed the live-streamed event that went on for 24-hours over the weekend. The festival saw more than $800 million (Sh97 billion) announced to end poverty. A total of $440 million (Sh53 billion) was earmarked to end poverty in Africa.
