The UK Universities East Africa Fair 2013 began on Friday at the Sarit Centre, Nairobi in a bid to create awareness and opportunities for studies in the UK.

The Fair hosted by Uniserve Education brings together about 36 universities and will also see British High Commission’s Visa services and British Council take part. The organisations will provide information on visa application in relation to student visas and English tests required by some of the universities.

Speaking during the opening of the Fair, the British High Commissioner to Kenya Dr Christian Turner said, “The UK government is extremely proud of its close educational ties with Kenya and is delighted that UK Visa and Immigration and the British Council are taking part in this year’s UK Universities East Africa Fair.”

Hundreds of youth streamed at the Sarit Expo Centre, Westlands armed with questions for the University delegates who were very enthusiastic and welcoming. “This expo gives me an opportunity to engage with a representative of the University of my choice,” said Joseph Otieno, an alumni of the Starehe Boys Centre.

Uniserve wraps up the fair in Nairobi today and will proceed to Mombasa tomorrow at Nyali Beach Resort.
