Expect downpours, weatherman say as long rains begin

Weatherman confirms onset of the March-April-May long rains in parts of the country. [File, Standard]

Kenya Meteorological Department has confirmed the onset of the March-April-May long rains in parts of the country, with more regions expected to see rainfall in the coming days.

Director of Kenya Meteorological Services David Gikungu said the rains recorded between March 10 and 16 marked the beginning of the season in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Nairobi and isolated areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Southeastern lowlands and parts of Isiolo County.
