Kenya's top 2022 KCPE candidate Fwaro Makokha Robinson has received a full scholarship for his secondary education.

Makokha, a pupil at Christ the King Academy in Bungoma who topped the 2022 class with 431 marks, has been sponsored by Education Technologies firm Kodris Africa.

The institution, in a statement on Thursday, December 22, said it will cater for Makokha's school fees for the entirety of his education, provide a laptop, coding licences, and other tools.

"We saw on the news that Fwaro would like to become a software engineer. The skill that takes him there is coding, and we want to set him on a firm footing towards achieving his dreams. Coding is one of the most sought-after skills in the world today, and Fwaro is setting the pace," Kodris CEO Mugumo Munene said.

The top pupil yesterday revealed he would like to pursue a career in software engineering upon completion of tertiary education.

The teenager, whose best subject in primary school was Kiswahili, said he has always had an interest in engineering, with a liking towards exploring electronic devices and equipment.

The Standard was unable to reach Makokha's family for comment at the time of publishing.

Kodris Africa helps children between the ages of seven (7) and 16 to learn code, and equip them with 21st-century skills to enable children learn different approaches to different situations.
