The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi has issued a security alert warning American nationals against visiting areas frequented by foreigners and tourists within the capital.

The Embassy warned of potential imminent terrorist attacks within Nairobi and other parts of the country.

“Locations frequented by U.S. citizens and other foreigners and tourists in Nairobi and elsewhere in Kenya continue to be attractive targets to terrorists planning to conduct potentially imminent attacks,” the American embassy noted.

As such, U.S. citizens have been cautioned against visiting hotels, restaurants, malls, supermarkets, and places of worship among other areas.

“Terrorist groups could attack with little or no warning,” the embassy noted.

American nationals have been urged to stay alert while frequenting the said locations and to be aware of the surroundings.

The U.S. Embassy has also appealed to the citizens to keep low profiles and avoid crowds.
